blink(1) is Open Source Hardware and so has many different ways you can access it.
The fastest to get going may be the command-line tool blink1-tool, but you can also control blink(1) via most computer languages over USB HID.
We provide APIs for several languages. We endeavor to these APIs work on these platforms:
- Mac OS X 10.15+
- Windows 11+
- Linux Ubuntu (and most other Linuxes and *nixes like FreeBSD)
- Raspberry Pi OS (“Raspbian”)
We come from a Unix background, so most of our tools work on Mac & Linux first.
We currently have APIs for:
- C / C++ / Objective-C / Qt
- Python
- Node.js
- Rust
- Java / Processing
- .NET
- Android
- WebHID
- Ruby
- Go
- Linux kernel
- and more added continually by us or the community!
Additionally there are several community-created APIs for specific higher-level tools that do system monitoring or continuous integration. Most all of these are published on github or blogs. If you are curious, do a web search for your tool and “blink1”.
